Material Testing
Material testing should be conducted early in the process, and potential problems should immediately be reported to construction management.

Comprehensive Concrete Testing and Application Reviews: Concrete, cement, and aggregate are observed and tested to determine if the materials meet strength specifications and project requirements.
Mortar, Grout, and Masonry Units Testing: Masonry materials are tested to confirm all materials used comply with established guidelines.
Membrane Bond Testing: Through testing, bond strength is determined, and waterproofing properties are evaluated.
Window Wall Third-Party Endorsement Consultation and Testing.
Lack of adequate quality control relating to window wall installation can result in significant air leakage and water intrusion of the building envelope.
Experienced consultants at Egis conduct window wall inspection and testing. These actions take place both in a testing laboratory and on-site. Field performance testing of the window wall is essential for quality control and must be reviewed during several phases of construction. Our team ensures the building envelope’s in-service performance standards are met, and the mandatory Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) pro-demnity liability insurance requirements are respected.

Steel Inspections: Steel Fabrication and Welding Certified Inspectors examine the condition of all steel members and perform tests on both bolt and weld connections. Our team ensures all material and weld-work meets Canadian Standards Association (CSA) quality standards.
Post Construction: Our post construction services include Performance Audits and Reserve Fund Studies. Often these audits and studies take place concurrently. Certified McIntosh Perry engineers conduct thorough site reviews to examine the condition of major systems and common element components. We provide detailed independent audit assessments and all classes of reserve fund studies as required by provincial and Condominium Corporation regulations.
Geotechnical Services: Our expert team performs geotechnical foundation engineering analysis for projects ranging from large-scale infrastructure projects to residential and commercial developments. We execute site investigations, inspections and testing to determine subsurface information and offer foundation design recommendations.
Shotcrete Testing: Examining the characteristics of shotcrete and its application is critical to establishing strong ground support systems. Field tests are conducted over time to measure the quality, consistency and strength of shotcrete for quality control purposes.
Environmental Investigation: We provide expert environmental assessment services for both new sites and existing developments. Our skilled team works with both the public and private sector to provide Phase I and Phase II Environmental Assessments, remediation, hydrogeology (groundwater) reviews, and environmental monitoring. In Ontario, we also help file Records of Site Condition and assist with Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs) for on-site operations.
Mechanical and Electrical Third Party Inspections: Egis is authorized to perform third-party field inspections of work performed. Our inspectors draw upon construction experience, up-to-date knowledge of codes, and engineering techniques to conduct all compliance reviews. In addition to mechanical and electrical inspections, our team also carries out generator reviews, elevator audits and thermal scans of electrical panels.
